Gunung Angsi via Bukit Putus – 825 meter of a “Giant Treadmill”

I get it now why they dub Gunung Angsi as “the beginner’s training ground”. It is doable for anyone who has just started hiking.

For me, with my slow pace and a can of 100Plus in hand, it took me 2 hours 5 min up and 1 hour 30 min down.

First 10 minutes of steep incline

Fairly flat section

Repeat and rinse until the peak. It is like programmable treadmill : up, incline 0, up, incline 0…

You can see a dam from “reservoir view” checkpoint

Meet CheTa and Kent

A pretty enjoyable trek, with birds hushing and chirping along the way. What a treat to the eyes, ears and ehem, soul.

At the summit there is a wide clearing with a small hut. If you want to have a picnic up there I would advise you to come early and book your spot under just a few shady trees.

Since we are in the mood of Deepavali celebration…

Our lineup is the lovely K Ayu and her husband who like to hike together 😍, awesome CheTa, Kent and Fadh (geng padu) as well as the funny and very accommodating photography duo Halim and Syam. Great people who are ever ready with stories and jokes. I had learnt a new knowledge or two that day. And thanks soooo much k Ayu for preparing nasi lemak and ayam masak kicap ❤️

There were kids who also attempted the climb with us on that day. Judging from their frown before they reached the top, I would say it Gunung Angsi is possible and fun for kids.

What do you mean Hanani? They were frowning!

Hear me out, pal. Jangan S-angsi (Hahaha….)

However parents are recommended to use a carrier at some relatively difficult parts of the trek. Or just promise the kids cendol after the hike. Either way, kids will learn about patience and appreciating the nature which is not as it was anymore, judging from the rate of deforestation around us.

For those who do not know what cendol is… I pity you

Public Service Announcement: the road to the entrance is fully tarred but winding. There will be monkeys on the road feeding on trashes or leftover food so please folks:

1) Don’t drive recklessly. Slow down and be on alert to avoid hitting these animals

2) Throw away your trash at the designated rubbish bin

Till the next hike 😊 Be responsible and have fun!
